Unlike other animals, shark has no bones, but instead has all cartilage which accounts for about 6 to 8% of its weight. Given mammals whose cartilage account for 1% of their weight, shark has a great amount of cartilage. Shark cartilage is rich in calcium, various minerals, mucopolysaccharide like Chondroitin, and protein.
What is Chondroitin
As a sort of mucopolysaccharide, it is a major component of cartilage in joint, the skin, cornea, and tendons of mammals including human being. Chondroitin, whjch is combined with protein in a human body, is reduced as people grow older. Widely distributed in a human body, it holds a variety of physiological functions.
